NEW YORK (AP) — A man hiding inside a bathroom stall in the ladies room of a Manhattan sports bar grabbed a woman by the throat and raped her, police said.
The suspect walked into the basement bathroom of the Turnmill Bar on East 27th Street on Saturday and hid inside a stall, police said. He then grabbed the 23-year-old woman, pulled her into a stall and raped her.
The suspect, who was described as 45 to 55 years old, fled the scene and was still on the loose Tuesday.
He was caught on a surveillance video walking outside the bar shortly after the alleged assault.
The victim was treated at a hospital.
The manager of the bar in the Kips Bay neighborhood told the Daily News that the suspect walked off the street and went downstairs to the toilets where he assaulted the woman.
Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800 577-TIPS.
