Among the many standout moments of Wisconsin’s 71-64 victory over Kentucky in their Final Four game on Saturday, one that is sure to not soon be forgotten is a controversial call on a critical shot.

The call came with 2:41 left and the score at 58-60. Wisconsin’s Nigel Hayes put up a basket to tie the game at 60-60. Some of the analysts questioned whether the ball was released before the shot clock was spent, but the Badgers got the points.

And while he commended Wisconsin’s performance, even Kentucky coach John Calipari noted the call.

“Another one, maybe a shot clock violation, I’ll have to watch another tape, I don’t know if it was or not,” Calipari said, when asked about the game by CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson.

People on Twitter were far less diplomatic.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Blown shot-clock call and phantom foul on Dekker drive were killers. But Badgers more clutch down stretch.

Wisconsin will go on to face Duke for national title in the championship game on Monday.
