Hillary Clinton Calls Out GOP 2016 Hopefuls Who Backed Republican Letter To Iran

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is widely considered to be a potential Democratic candidate for president in 2016, criticized GOP presidential hopefuls who threw their support behind a letter sent to Iran by Republican senators.

Clinton criticized the letter Tuesday during a press conference at the United Nations in New York, saying the move was “out of step with the best traditions of American leadership.”

“Either these senators were trying to be helpful to the Iranians or harmful to commander-in-chief in middle of high stakes international diplomacy,” Clinton said.

On Wednesday, she tweeted that GOP presidential hopefuls shouldn’t back the letter:

GOP Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Ted Cruz (Texas) and Marco Rubio (Fla.) all signed the letter, and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced his support for the letter on Tuesday. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s name was added to the letter on Tuesday, according to a statement from Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), who wrote the letter.

Jindal responded to Clinton’s tweet on Wednesday:
