The son of a wealthy San Diego businessman is accused of attempting to kidnap a 7-year-old girl from her school.

Jack Henry Doshay, 22, whose father is one of the owners of the San Diego Padres, allegedly grabbed the little girl as she was walking out of Skyline Elementary School in Solana Beach, NBC San Diego reports. He was arrested Wednesday on charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment with violence and child cruelty.

On March 23 at around 3:30 p.m., sheriff’s officials said Doshay apparently went to the school just as classes were letting out. He allegedly grabbed the young girl, and according to deputies, tried to cover her mouth with packing tape to stop her from screaming.

Teachers and parents heard her screams and came running, prompting the suspect to run off and drive away in a newer model black Ford Flex SUV.

The victim’s father spoke at a news conference on Thursday.

“This guy messed with the wrong girl and the wrong community,” Mike Paeske said, according to U-T San Diego.

Jack Doshay is the son of Glenn Doshay, a wealthy San Diego philanthropist who owns a minority stake in the San Diego Padres baseball team, according to MyFoxSanDiego.

The suspect was scheduled to appear in court Friday.
